Computer Investigations
Computer Evidence Retrieval/Forensic Analysis
Computers have transformed the way we conduct business and virtually every other aspect of daily life. Unfortunately, computers are also used to facilitate illicit activities ranging from pornography and on-line affairs to corporate espionage and workplace fraud. While indulging in online pornography and "cyber-sex" may seem like a relatively harmless diversion at first, online affairs often lead to very real adultery. Pornographic and gambling web sites can quickly lead to costly addictions with devastating consequences to marital and business relationships.
A recent anonymous survey conducted by the FBI indicated that 85% of the responding companies had suffered theft of intellectual property, espionage, damage from malicious computer programs, or other tampering with computer files. Of these companies, some 70% were victimized by their own employees or former employees. Whether motivated by greed or revenge, these individuals can wreak havoc on an unsuspecting business.
The good news is that Covert Sciences can conduct a thorough search for evidence on computer media. By using some of the same techniques and software as federal, state and local law enforcement agencies and probation/parole departments, Covert Sciences can recover evidence from computer files, even if the user has deleted or hidden the evidence.
